This guide will walk you though the process of installing VPN on your Amazon Firestick or FireTV. I would recommend using IPVanish for VPN, but this method should be fine for other VPN servivce too. This method I will demonstrate uses the Downloader app method to install the IPVanish app.

Please note:  The First Generation FireStick does not work with VPN services but will work with all other models (1st Gen Fire TV, 2nd Gen Fire TV, 2nd Gen Fire TV Stick).

First, enable the Fire Stick / FireTV to allow apps from unknown sources:

• Open the Fire Stick
• Go to Settings > System > Developer Options.
• Then select “Apps from Unknown Sources”
• Turn the option to “ON”.
• Now exit settings

Now add the Downloader App to Firestick / FireTV

• Go to the home and select Search
• Search for ‘Downloader‘
• Select Download or Get

• Wait for the download is complete notification.
• Once downloaded. Go to Apps on the homescreen.
• Launch the Downloader app

Run the Downloader app

• Once in the Downloader app select the input box to “Enter the URL of the file you want to download”
• Enter http://bit.ly/ipvanishlatest 
• Click Next to close Pop up box
• Click download and the file will download
• Select Install once completed
• IPVanish should now be installed and available in Firestick/ Fire TV
• Select Open once installation is complete

Using the App

• Add your IPVanish Username and Password and select Remember me
• Once logged in there is a choice of Tutorial or Skip. I would hit skip but you can take a look at the tutorial if you want
• Now connect to any of the servers in any of the countries that are available on your IPVanish account
• You wont see IPVanish on your home screen. When you start the Firestick and you need to open IPVanish to connect to a server.
• Go to your Apps & Games and scroll right to the end where it says See All
• When the next window opens scroll to IPVanish and you can now open it
